Upper and Lower Belvedere
The Upper and Lower Belvedere are distinct palace sites, each with its own art displays and visitor entrance. The Upper Belvedere is the Baroque palace at Prinz-Eugen-Straße 27; the Lower Belvedere occupies Prince Eugene’s former residential palace at Rennweg 6, 1030 Vienna.
At the Upper Belvedere, art from 800 years includes works by Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele and Vincent van Gogh. The Lower Belvedere hosts art exhibitions, while the Palace Stables display medieval works. Belvedere 21 is the third part of the complex.
For a visit centered on the Upper Belvedere’s collection, start there and leave time to cross the garden terraces to the Lower Belvedere. If you plan to see both museums, choose a ticket that covers both and keep the two different opening times in mind.

The collections and Klimt in Vienna
The Belvedere’s collections connect Austrian art with works from a wider span of European art history. Gustav Klimt is among the artists represented at the Upper Belvedere, alongside Egon Schiele and Vincent van Gogh.
The Upper Belvedere’s ongoing display is titled “Picture this! The Belvedere Collection from Cranach to Lassnig.” At the Lower Belvedere, the “Gallery Middle Ages and Renaissance” presents works from those periods, and the museum also hosts art exhibitions.
Allow time to see the palace setting as well as the galleries. If you are shaping a wider day around the museum, a one-day Vienna walk from the Old Town to the Ring covers a different way to structure time in the city.

Palace gardens and access
The main Belvedere garden lies between the Lower and Upper Belvedere, stretching across three large terraces. Access is available with a valid ticket through the Lower Belvedere and Marble Gallery.
The Upper Belvedere entrance has no steps, and the building has elevators and an accessible toilet. Wheelchairs are available at the cloakroom, and staff can assist with access to two elevators via a ramp. Tactile tours are offered for blind and visually impaired visitors, along with video guides in Austrian Sign Language and International Sign.
The Lower Belvedere has an elevator and accessible toilet, and assistance dogs are allowed. The Orangery is wheelchair-accessible through a link corridor from the Lower Belvedere. Free wheelchairs are available at all Belvedere locations.
